Somehow Jesus’ followers were not looking for Him to rise from the dead. They had forgotten His promise to return. If it was true of them, what can the rest of us learn from them?
A Fresh Encounter
As Peter, John and Mary Magdalene made their way back to the empty tomb, they didn’t do so expecting that Jesus had risen from the dead. But soon they would each have a fresh encounter with Him. We, too, would do well to go back to the empty tomb and experience a fresh encounter with Jesus!
Not Until They Came
Have you ever done something because you knew you were supposed to do it, even though you didn’t really know why you were doing it? Or maybe you thought you were doing it for one reason, only to later discover that God obviously had a completely different reason in mind. If that’s the case, you’re in very good company!
It Really Is Finished
The work of Christ’s redemption is finished. There is nothing more to be done.
